Why it exists
This is the product where the reason the network exists is clearest. Land here is measured in cuerdas, and no calculator on the internet knows what a cuerda is. The Christmas bonus is law on the island and barely exists off it, so nobody has written a calculator for it. The IVU is not any state's sales tax.
Then there is the power. When it goes out — and it goes out — the question is how many watts the generator you own will carry and what it will cost to run. Nobody from elsewhere works that out for you either.

Read the note about which rules it uses
Each tool states the rules it calculates with. It matters: Puerto Rico withholding and excise are not the stateside ones, and a generic calculator online gives you a number that does not apply here.

What it does not do

- They are estimates, not official documents. No calculator replaces your pay stub, your return or what the tax authority says.
- They do not know your particular case. Exemptions, dependants or special deductions can move the number.
- They store nothing. Close the page and nothing remains — good for your privacy, inconvenient if you wanted the same calculation back.
- They give no tax or financial advice. They tell you what the sum comes to, not whether it suits you.
Common questions
- Is what I type into a calculator saved?
- No. The arithmetic happens in your browser and what you type is not stored. None of them require an account.
- What is a cuerda and why is there a calculator for it?
- The cuerda is the land measure used in Puerto Rico, roughly 0.97 acres. Because almost no tool from elsewhere recognises it, converting between cuerdas, acres and square metres ended up being done by hand. That is why it is there.
- Are the results valid for anything official?
- They are estimates meant to orient you. For a number going into an official document, a tax return or a contract, confirm with the agency or a professional.
- Why not use any calculator online?
- Because almost all of them calculate with stateside rules. In Puerto Rico withholding, sales tax and vehicle excise are different, and a number that looks reasonable can be wrong by hundreds of dollars.
- Do they store my data?
- No. The calculators ask for no account and keep nothing you type. That is why you can enter your real salary without thinking twice.
- Is the result something I can show someone?
- It serves to orient you and to discuss a figure knowing what you are talking about. It does not serve as a document: for that there is the pay stub your employer issues or the official paper from the relevant agency.
